...humans are monkeys just hidden inside...

20000 people were attending the Open Days of the European Parliament in Strasbourg yesterday. One might say a great moment for citizens to get in touch with the institution or vice versa...
It was my first time experience with an event of this type and I have to admit, I had no clue what was coming. From 1000 until 1800 stand of ALDE group was surrounded by the army of demanding individuals that from the first sight remind you of humans, but then if you look deeper...
We were distributing number of promotion materials; publications, flayers, leaflets and all the imaginary gadgets - caps, flashy emergency jackets, lollipops etc. etc. People were absolutely mad, they were pushing each other to get more of everything without even looking what it is they are taking or thinking do I really need that. At certain point, they were just releasing demands - Cap! Jacket! Lollipop! - no please, no thanks, no what is your group opinion on... nothing, just - CAP!!!! JACKET!!!! LOLLIPOP!!!!
Some people were coming couple of times the same hour and asking for the same things. Some were making up stories about 5 kids at home waiting for the lollipop and a cap... One colleague compared all this with a bazaar in Beirut or Cairo just without bargaining or politeness...
On the second thought, this all should not be so surprising, because there should be a psychological explanation to such a craze...people are tempted to things that attract crowds, they tend to do things that others do, or something more simple... there is nothing for free, so if someone gives away stuff you need to take loads, or take now, think later...
At moments like this you see the path of the evolution turning its cycle back to the start, when we were on fours...
