Happy birthday EU!

50th anniversary for EU and no one knows if we will see another one? Well at least I will consider myself lucky if in 2057, I will still be here, not to mention the Union.

These were the most peaceful years for Europe and still we had nightmare of Srebrenica, bloodshed in Kosovo, there is still a capital of the EU state that is separated by conflict...

These were the richest years for Europe and shared growth gave second chance to many, but poverty is still a reality in EU states, especialy in those that joined the Union since 2004...

These were the most democratic years, but European Parliament is a mere decoration so far in the institutional construction of the EU, Berlin declaration where 2nd last paragraph says:

"EU will further base itself on the principles of openness..." while the Berlin declaration itself was written by the group of Sherpers and discussed behind the closed doors without involving citizens...

Can it be better? I am sure it can, but we need to overcome internal hypocricy and promote even greater unity in diversity TOGETHER!

Happy Birthday to a beautiful idea of Europe!
